I had a rather scary experience last night..
Prepare for a long journal. It's a long story. XD IT WAS CRAZY.

Well, first things first. We have a 4x4 car, with a "snorkel" on the side which allows air into the engine when underwater. My dad made it a while ago for all our adventure holiday-type things LOL. But yeah. We have a practically unstoppable car. xP

Right, so all of us (Mum, Dad, my brother and I) wanted to go out and see the extent of the flooding.. (check ~black-wolf-jet's journal for the flooding details. xP) and find some biiig floods. xP So we all rugged up in waterproofs and wellies and went out in the car..

We went around the local valleys and stuff, and had no problems getting through the floods. (We passed several abandoned cars though XD). We were happily gawping away at the size of what is usually a pretty small waterfall, that was now just rushing over where the viewpoint was meant to be. XD

But yeah, we razzed around for a bit, having fun and we decided to come back a quicker way. We came out of the town (ignoring the 'ROAD CLOSED' sign, we'd been along about 3 closed roads already. XD) and came to the deepest flood yet... There were 4 abandoned cars/vans in that single flood. We realised why when the water came over our headlights and my dad literally was in the dark. We just went straight and hoped for the best. XD My mum was worried, but me and my brother were kinda like: "YEAAAAAH!" (rofl)

We got out of that flood fine and we thought that was the worst over.. rofl that was until we got a little bit further down the road. We came to one which we thought would be fine, then as we started driving through it I noticed the wall just disappearing into the water..

Then the water came up over the headlights again, my dad couldn't see a thing and he'd forgotten to engage 4-wheel-drive so we lost traction and just kinda, started floating. We knew we were screwed by this point and we were all trying to think of plans of action. I didn't notice, either, that by this point the water was up to my ankles. Inside the car.

Eventually I climbed onto the roof (my brother was scared he was gonna get stuck in the window xD) and saw that we were right next to the wall so I kinda waited for my brother to go first and eventually we got out and stuff. But now we had to walk home, freezing cold in the torrential rain. .__.

Rofl, as we were walking home, I literally had to wade through another flood and it was in a place that never floods. XD We got home though, even if it did take, like, an hour. >.>

When we got home, Mum, Dad and my brother decided to go back out again and try to pull our car out using a Land Rover, a canoe and long pieces of rope. I was told to stay at home and kinda be there to call the emergency services if need be.

rofl, we'd set out at about 4.30pm and by now it was about 7pm. XD But they'd still gone back out. The car was at a funny angle, right in the middle of the main road.. That's why they needed to move it. xD

Soooooo, I waited. A lot. And eventually decided to make some soup for everyone when they came back. They seemed genuinely surprised to see me cooking when they came back at about 9.30pm. XD

My dad was a little hypothermic as well, he had waded up to his neck through that flood. D:
So yeah. Basically. It was one crazy night. XD There is more to the story, but I thought this journal is long enough already. XD

Our car is now silently sat somewhere just off the main road, with a very bad cold. :[
I'm just glad we were all ok. XD
